Murder Benign follows Detective Chief Inspector Sidney Walsh of the Cambridge serious crimes division as he investigates the murder of renowned archaeologist Sir Gordon Lignum, who is found dead in his study after being struck on the head. The investigation soon reveals no shortage of possible suspects, from family members and fellow academics to students and others connected with a nearby archaeological dig.
With a mysterious cuneiform tablet, conflicting alibis and tensions surrounding the excavation adding to the puzzle, Walsh and his team must work through a web of motives and misleading clues to identify the killer. A traditional British police procedural combining an academic setting with a classic murder mystery.
