Storm Boy by Colin Thiele is a children’s novel about a lonely boy living on the remote South Australian coast who forms a deep bond with a pelican he rescues and names Mr Percival; through their friendship and his relationships with his father and an Indigenous man called Fingerbone Bill, the story explores themes of nature, loss, and growing up, as the boy learns about responsibility and the impact of human actions on wildlife and the environment.
