True Business follows February, a headmistress at a residential Deaf school, and three of her students, Austin, Charlie, and Eliot, through a six month span in which a series of crises both political and personal threaten to unravel each of them, while at the same time tethering them inextricably to one another. Absorbing and assured, the three perspectives chronicled in True Business are at once wonderfully idiosyncratic and relatable, each of them exploring a facet of the deaf experience while skilfully revealing the universality of human connection.
